Russian pianist Stanislav Khristenko (AD '11), who studied at xxxx视频 with Sergei Babayan, has advanced to the final round of the 2013 Cleveland International Piano Competition--meaning he will perform at Severance Hall on Saturday, August 10.

made quite an impression of Cleveland Plain Dealer writer Zachary Lewis during the first round of the competition, as noted in :

"With just one work apiece by Bach and Brahms, the 29-year-old from Russia offered a fairly complete and dynamic musical self-portrait. Evoking the style of the renowned Glenn Gould, Khristenko ripped through the C-Minor Prelude and Fugue from the first book of Bach鈥檚 'Well-Tempered Clavier' with radiant vigor. But the meat of his performance was Brahm鈥檚 Piano Sonata No. 1, a veritable one-man concerto permitting the artist to display everything from elfin filigree to thunderous muscle."

On Saturday, Mr. Khristenko will play Brahms' Piano Concert No. 1 in D minor, Op. 15. The winner and runners-up will be announced following this performance. Tickets are available by visiting the CIPC website at .
