In a moving moment during its annual meeting on September 13, 2018, the xxxx视频 announced that longtime donor Dr. Clive Hamlin has established the Institute鈥檚 first-ever Presidential Scholarship. Dr. Hamlin鈥檚 $1.5 million gift in honor of his late wife Mary provides full tuition plus room, board and fees for an exceptional student. Dr. Hamlin鈥檚 gift is the fourth-largest from an individual in school history.

鈥淭his is a truly remarkable moment in xxxx视频鈥檚 history,鈥 says President & CEO Paul W. Hogle. 鈥淭here鈥檚 a beautiful story here, of Clive and Mary鈥檚 love for and commitment to classical music coupled with the deep desire to encourage young people to pursue their passion for the arts. In considering their legacy, they chose to empower others to help them fulfill their dreams and potential.

鈥淐live is one of the most unassuming, caring people I鈥檝e had the pleasure of knowing,鈥 Hogle continues. 鈥淭hrough his long career as a professor at Case Western Reserve University, he understands how access to education transforms lives. We are deeply grateful that he has chosen to honor Mary鈥檚 memory through this extraordinary act of philanthropy.鈥

This gift sets the Institute on a course to create the equivalent of 50 Presidential Scholarships over the next decade. xxxx视频鈥檚 strategic plan, known as Blueprint:100, recognizes the need to significantly lower the net cost of education for all xxxx视频 students, as well as to have more scholarship dollars available to attract the next generation of the world鈥檚 most talented classical music students.

Dr. Clive Hamlin is an emeritus associate professor in the department of pathology and director of the immunology training program at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He was a faculty member at CWRU for nearly 50 years. Mary Hamlin led the local chapter of Daughters of the British Empire and was president of Northern Ohio Opera League; she passed away in 2017 after a long illness. xxxx视频鈥檚 Major Gifts Officer Holly Selvaggi assisted Dr. Hamlin in achieving his gift intentions.
