Introduction

Mary Le Rouge received a PhD in English rhetoric and composition from Kent State University, where she taught English composition, argumentative prose and professional writing classes. She previously worked as a freelance editor of award-winning encyclopedias in the social sciences published primarily by Sage. Le Rouge has spoken at national and international conferences about the difficulties that scientists face when communicating with the public about environmental issues. She has published articles in academic journals such as Peitho and Communication Design Quarterly, and she is co-editor of the book Embodied Environmental Risk: Problems and Solutions Toward Social Sustainability (ATTW/Routledge, 2022).

She is interested in how music is used in social context to reflect culture and identity, and finding new ways to write and speak about music.
